I have this story running in my head and I don't know if it will ever get written. I have decided to do a public (of sorts) outline and at least get something going.

First - I love d/g. Really the only fanfic I will read. I am new to this whole fanfic world and have found that it can take over your life. So, instead of being bogged down in a collection of extremely badly written and mediocre writing I have now limited myself to one site: FIA and give great thanks to Mynuet for all her effort.

I was reading yesterday on her journal about some rather rude and judgemental comments someone made about her in relations to a fanfic drive that is currently being run for her. This got me thinking about the generous nature of fanfic - and I don't mean about the money that readers and writers raise.

Writing a story is time consuming, hard, and a considerable investment of oneself. Fanfic authors I will define as those who actually take care in writing stories and are not in it as a narcissistic exercise and whose stories are littered with spelling, grammar, A/N, and threats about reviews and continuation. So, those authors have helped me maintain my sanity for the past few months and they have done it selfishly. Of course, they may not have realised that they are helping a new mum home on maternity leave from going gaga in the brain, but that does not make there efforts and talent and generosity any less worthwhile. It makes it all the more exemplary.

Getting back to the complaints of the twerp about the Mynuet drive - I feel that the stories on her site and written by her have been a gift to me. I am amazed and admire that she actually gets anything done above and beyond all her real life demands so a proposal to help her is wonderful and timely and commendable and every possible worthy adjective you can think of. And frankly I don't care whether she takes the money and spends it all on an extravagant item or on food. It is none of my business. I will give and hope for some fanfic because I have really appreciated what she has given me (even without knowing it).

A few months ago, Mynuet had pointed out that Cliodnahpfan was having a baby and posted her baby registry list. I got her a Boppy - a) I know how useful they are and b) I love her fanfic. I don't know her, am not an active livejournal participant (as you can guess by reading this entry) but it seemed like the best way to thank her for the d/g she has written that I have enjoyed.

Back to my possible story outline: Inspired as I am by all my favourite authors, I hope to one day be able to post something on FIA. Meanwhile I shall post my outline – a work in progress and maybe having it out of my head and on virtual paper will prompt the rest of the tale to follow.
